BRAY ARTISTS LORRAINE WHELAN AND JAMES HAYES PARTICIPATE IN THE GREAT EGG HUNT IN DUBLIN
Lorraine Whelan left this note on facebook. "We braved the bitter cold yesterday to do some egg hunting in Dublin. My egg, Wild Roses, was in the grounds of Dublin Castle near the Chester Beatty Library. We came on it by surprise after exiting the Gardai Memorial Garden." Congratulations Lorraine thats one beautiful big egg.
James's egg, Hilbert Curve, was at home in the fancy shoe section of Brown Thomas on Monday, though now it is probably in the CHQ building of the IFSC in Dublin. All the eggs are gathering there for one week.

CHRISTCHURCH BRAY HAS BEEN TRANSFORMED INTO THE LAND OF NARNIA, THE STORY OF THE DAWN TREADER FOR LENT
The work of artists from the Signal Art Centre over the past few months has finally come to fruition. The Dawn Treader exhibit was launched on Ash Wednesday with a great deal of ceremony.
The exhibition was launched by Douglas Gresham,
stepson of CS Lewis, who had travelled from Malta with his wife, Marie, to be
present. He said it had been a great honour and a pleasure to be in Bray for
the event. “It is a great wonder to see what has been done in the church and a
great surprise to see the Dawn Treader and Aslan recreated here,” he said.
Archbishop Michael Jackson praised Rector Stanley Baden and all who had helped to
transform the church to give Ash Wednesday and Lent a whole new light and
creativity.
Over the next six and a half weeks it is expected that
thousands of children and adults will pass through the church to walk through
the Dawn Treader ship and visit the islands that King Caspian, Lucy, Edmund,
Eustace, Reepicheep the mouse and Aslan visited. They will also see Aslan, the
icy Queen of Narnia who sits in her sleigh, a real waterfall which has been
created in the chancel of the church and a menacing dragon. The festival forms
part of the church’s 150th anniversary celebrations.

THE VOYAGE OF THE DAWN TREADER AT CHRIST CHURCH BRAY
To celebrate our 150th Anniversary, Christ Church Bray is running another Narnia Festival. This time we are using the C.S. Lewis classic 'The Voyage of the Dawn Treader' and its timeless teaching on temptation and Lent as our inspiration.
With a large ship, dragon, Aslan, waterfall and much more, it promises to be a wonder-filled experience for all ages.
We are running from Ash Wednesday, 13th February, to Easter Sunday, 31st March and while individuals and families can turn up, it is very important for schools and groups to book in advance.
For more information you can contact us by email (christchurchbray@gmail.com); telephone (01-2862968); website (www.christchurchbray.org); and Facebook (Christ Church Bray or Narnia Festival 2013-Feb 13-March 31st).

FRANCES BROSNAN "HIDDEN BEAUTY" OCTOBER 9 TO SUNDAY OCTOBER 21ST
'Hidden Beauty' is an exhibition based on a visual response to a series of photographs taken through a microscope. Slides of plant cells were placed under the microscope and then photographed. The works in this exhibition are an interpretation of these images using ceramics and mixed media.
Scientific equipment has given us the opportunity to explore the hidden beauty and mystery of plant cells. With the aid of a microscope the hidden minute structures of plant cells can be exposed to reveal a world of great beauty and complexity.
The intention was not to 'reproduce' what was viewed under the microscope as the artist believes the beauty and complexity of nature cannot be replicated. The artist's love of texture and colour was a major factor in her interpretation of these images.
Super Opening night. Gregg did the honours describing Fran's determination, experimentation and dedication to her work. Congratulations to Fran on a fabulous show.
