Spanish artist Francisco De Borja recently exhibited his watercolour prints at Signal Arts Centre. The exhibition was entitled 'Who's Yer Paddy? and it ran from Tuesday 28th April to Sunday 10th May 2009.For more information visit Borja's page on the Signal website.
There has been a lot of controversy around the latest show in Signal. Some people have likened the comments made by the artist to the very discriminary way in which the Irish were depicted in Punch etc. many years ago. I feel that the artist has the right to depict his representations in whatever way he wants. But is it right!! Is it derogotory yes I think some people would find it so but my biggest problem with the work is that he did not use original work but used prints!! I don't get it!
